National Dentist's Day

We’re Celebrating National Dentist's Day!

For the day that's in it, our co-founders Dr. Lisa and Dr. Vanessa have answered some frequently asked questions around being dentists, and how they got into dentistry. Watch the video in full here!

Q: What made you become a dentist?
Lisa: I really love working with people, and I like working with my hands. I was always very interested in health sciences and medicine, so it was the perfect job for me.

Q: What’s your favourite part about dentistry?
Vanessa: I love working with people. My favourite thing is seeing somebody nervous come into the practice, taking them through their whole smile journey and seeing their increased confidence at the end. It's amazing to be a part of that process.

Q: What is your least favourite part of dentistry?
Lisa: Seeing how intimidated or nervous some patients are when they come into the practice. I wish there was more education on oral health so people realise they don’t need to be nervous! But I’ve noticed that it's something that is slowly changing.

Q; How does being a dentist affect how you approach your own oral care?
Vanessa: 90% of oral care is done at home so this definitely impacts how I approach my own oral care. I’m super aware that as dentists there’s very little we can do to impact people’s oral health long term. It all starts at home with brushing with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day and flossing daily.
